thanksCan someone give me info and advise on ipods and mp3 players?
You can get any home music system but just make sure it supports CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 (on CD-R) formats. That way you can burn all your songs that you download online (MP3 Format) onto CD-R which the system will play.

So you can play all your normal CDs as well as burnt or copied CDs and you've also got the normal functions such as radio or tape if you opt for those. Have a look round online, there are loads to choose from but as long as they support CD-R or MP3 they should be ok for playing downloaded music. Can someone give me info and advise on ipods and mp3 players?
if you buy an ipod u also have to pay a dollar a song. with other mp3 players, you can download them either by paying for the song or a sharing website like limewire.com
a really easy way is to buy a cd player with the mp3 feature on it! all you do is burn the mp3 files to a cd and put it in the cd tray and press play! ipod and others are little more complicated! ipod you got to install software, install the player, download the songs, transfer them, etc...
If you want convenience, but you aren't bothered about sound quality, then they are the way to go.

If you actually want to sit and enjoy listening to music, then the horrid, squawky sound made by ANY iPod or mp3 player will have you hitting the 'Off' button in no time!

I have an ipod and I love it. You can download from itunes all the time and it's only 79p per song.

However, there are mp3 players that give you sites where you can download music for free.
Ipods are not worth the price. It is tied to itunes which downloads music that can only be played on an ipod. The batteries can't easily be replaced and there is no built in radio.

There are MP3 players that cost much less and are easier to use. The thing to look for is the following. Can it be used without any special software? Is there a way for it to play protected music. (Special software is probably required for this feature. Probably WMP.) It there a radio build in. Can it record voice.

There are actually MP3 players that cost under $20 that will hold 30-40 songs (128 mb). I just got one free for going to an auto dealer.
Ive had a few mp3s/mp4/ipods i personally think apple ipods the best but get one with 1gb or more to hold enough songs about 240 or more Ive now got a ipod shuffle cos i don't need a screen cos they are to small to see when your driving and the battery lasts alot longer
my advice is buy mp3 player, they r cheaper and easy to use. ipods have so many problems with the player itself and the software.
