I have just bought BMW 525td from 1993. Can someone please advise which type of oil is appropriate to use? Thx

Any high quality DIESEL engine oil will be fine. I'd reccommend using fully synthetic oil as it's thinner so it's easier for the engine to pump round when it's cold. Most engine wear occurs during warm up when oil has drained away from all the surfaces it needs to protect. Fully synthetic helps to reduce this. I use Shell Helix on my 130,000 mile old turbo diesel Citroen. Hope this helps.
