Need advise on harness racing betting.... How, what to look for, etc.?

I'm much better at betting the thoroughbreds than the standardbreds, but...

One thing you definately want to look at is when the horses are warming up, do not bet on ones that are cantering... if they can't trot/pace before the race, they're not going to trot/pace during the race. If they break before the race I've never seen one go on to win.

The other thing that I do is look at how well the horses move in the warm up. Look at how effortlessly they move their legs and look at how long their stride is. I picked the winner of the Battle of Lake Erie at Northfield park by watching the horses when they first stepped onto the track. The one I picked immediately stepped into this big flowing trot and when I saw that I knew he had a good chance to win.Need advise on harness racing betting.... How, what to look for, etc.?
Harness racing is harder to judge on than thoroughbreds. In harness racing, horses often get pinned on the rail, and they can't make a move no matter what. I once won $100 on one harness race, but that was because I found the overlays (the horses where the odds are listed higher than the morning line/program odds), and got lucky.Need advise on harness racing betting.... DONT bet on horse races. (See Kentucky Derby Eight Belles.) Put your money in the bank in a savings account.

BUT if you really want a serious hint: Take a look at the horse's past record - especially the recent record.
Take the money you intend to bet and put it into an IRA and then just keep track of the horses and bet ';play money';.
